Hello everyone:
Tomorrow I will be auditioning for American Idol. They are finally in Seattle and I'm just an hour boat ride from there, so how could I pass up such an incredible and fun opportunity? As I struggle to figure out what I'll sing, I am feeling very nervous but very excited.
My friend's daughter will also be auditioning, so we'll be each other's moral support. No matter how auditions go tomorrow, I'm confident that it will be a crazy and memorable experience.
Have any zoners tried out for american Idol, and if so, what were your experiences?
Hugs,
Meka
Good luck. A girl on here named Jessica (user name lonestar) tried out a couple years ago. From what she has said, it was a good experience even though she did not get very far. Have fun.
Good luck! Will look forward to next year.
Troy
good luck to both of you.
hope you do well
By now you two are probably already there, but I hope y'all get chosen. I have never tried out for American Idol, but my sister has. I'd say to take it as more of an experience that you can say, "I did that", rather than worry too much whether you get chosen. I know that's not good advice if you are really serious about getting on the show or wanting to become the next American Idol, but I'm just saying that one who does that should try not to stress too much over it. (Not saying that you are, but yeah.) The reason I say this is that my sister and another group nearby her had done better than some of the ones chosen. (I'm not just saying that because she's my sister, as I can say she's not perfect, but she was honestly better than others I heard that were chosen, as it was obvious some of those others didn't sing well at all.) So yeah, although they do choose many people by how well they sing, they also choose those who are average or just seriously don't, so they can sort of have it balanced out I guess or for the show. My sister was somewhat disappointed but was at the same time taking it as an "I did that" experience, so that's why my thoughts from that would just be to just have fun with it. *xmile*
Good for you, Meka! I'm excited! I hope you made it, but even if you didn't, you're living my dream. You are awesome. Hugs to you.
Far too tired to go in to detail, but I did have high hopes. But you know, I took it all as quite an experience. I loved every moment of it.
I didn't make it past the initial rounds, even though the producer said that I had an amazing voice and good vocal range. I'll admit that I'm disappointed, but that's only natural. I wasn't really going with the thought of 'well gee, I'm here and will probably fail'. But it was quite a fun experience, and I think I'll go through it next time.
Anyhow, thanks for all of the support and well wishes, you guys are wonderful!
Hugs,
Meka
Sorry you didn't get further. Good luck next year.
Sorry you didn't make it further, but just the fact that you tried in the first place makes you pretty awesome in my book. Better luck next time.
yay, american idol!!
I tried out for canadian idol all four times they've had it lol...I'm an idol dork! and made it to the top 100 on my third try, then made it to the judges this year but they said no, and plan to o back next year and see what happens.
I'm sorry you didn't make it, but keep trying! each year you get better, and the third time seemed to be the charm for me, lol. like someone else said, hey either pick people who are really good, or really bad...I've seen soooo many amazing people in the lineup who didn't make it past the first producer and they were definitely top 100 material, and I guess that's just the way the show goes onfortunately. but keep trying and good luck next year!!!
Meka.
It's Jessica, or lonestar as some people know me as. Anyways, I tried out for idol in the year that Carrie won, and let me tell you, there were an amazing bunch of singers that round, you have no idea. Anyway, for all who haven't heard it yet, it took awhile for the story to get around the blind community talking about my idol adventures but it's now up on bct as a podcast, so feel free to listen. Anyways, as far as the details of my tryouts, I made it all the way to the hollywood rounds, out of tens of thousands of people, I was 1 out of about 200 people that made it that far, I got kicked out after that round however, and that's where it ended for me. However, I hope to go back maybe next year since I'm still young enough to go, lol. I wish all who have tried out the best of luck in the show, as it can be a great experience, but can also be a painful one.
awww, sorry to hear you didn't make it, but we'll all be rootin' for ya next year.
No but don't quit Meka cause BLACK POWER is on your side
